“I'm the person who gained five pounds a year forever, until I was just overweight. It started after I left school and I became a little less active and got into the daily eight to five grind of life. I got to a size 18 and I was 194 pounds. And so I went on the Food Lovers program and just knocked it all out. And it's amazing.
My worst moment was when I decided to go back to work, and none of my old work clothes fit. I was talking to my mom and telling her how bummed I was that I needed to buy bigger clothes, and she said, ‘Well, I have some. I'll just send them over to you.’ She's always had trouble with her weight, so when she said that, that was the moment. I just knew at that point that I didn't want to end up like her.
When you're carrying that much weight, everything is a little more difficult. It's more difficult to tie your shoes. It's more difficult to go for a walk. Since I've lost all the weight and I’m lighter now, doing anything is a breeze. I just recently signed up for a 10K. I could never imagine myself doing that before.
I tried lots of other programs, but they didn't teach me how I needed to eat. They just told me what to eat or they gave me some guidelines, and I followed those guidelines strictly. But I never really learned what it was that I was supposed to be doing. With the Food Lovers plan, I know exactly what I can eat by looking at a menu. I don't need to reference a book to find out how many points that calculates to. I know what’s best just looking by at the menu.
It’s not diet food. That's, that’s the best part of this. It's not diet food at all. I don’t eat rice crackers and carrot sticks all day. I eat the foods that I want to. I eat healthy and flavorful foods, and I eat all the time. I'm always putting food in my mouth. And that's, that's the biggest difference. I’m not deprived at all. When it's time to eat, I eat, and I eat healthy portions. And that's very different from any other diet that I've ever been on.
The big, big change that I've made is that I eat more often. I eat every two to three hours, and it's religious. And by doing that, I continue to rev up my metabolism, and as my metabolism goes higher, I eat exactly what I want, all of my favorite foods, and I continue to lose weight. I was eating chocolate, pasta, tacos, cookies, brownies, pancakes all of my favorite foods, and I was able to lose 51pounds.”
